OUR PROGRAMS
Educational Encounters & Animal-Assisted Therapy
Second Chance Farms feels strongly in educating and supporting our community.
Partnering with local organizations, we educate about the agriculture industry as well as the importance of animal-human relationships. Through animal-assisted therapy, we're able to "bring the farm to you" and encourage emotional connections. Here are some initiatives we're proud to be a part of:

Agriculture Days
In partnership with the UGA Extension Office of Oconee County and the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture's Mobile Ag Trailer, we bring the farm to elementary school kids across the district. Students learn about sheep, their rescue stories, their vital role in agriculture, and have the opportunity to as questions & engage in hands-on learning activities that deepen their understanding of farming & animal care.

Career & Club Days
In collaboration with local elementary schools, we bring a special guest to share insights about the fulfilling and impactful careers in agriculture and philanthropy. We highlight the rewarding aspects of working in these fields and inspire students to explore these meaningful career paths.
Read with a Sheep
Read with a Sheep is a unique and calming program designed to help children improve their reading confidence & skills while interacting with friendly sheep. Children read in a non-judgmental environment, fostering confidence and promotes a love for reading. Combined with the therapeutic benefits of animal interaction, this educational and fun atmosphere makes kids feel comfortable practicing their reading.
